Leader Grant Thomas is camping at Craters on Friday night so he will not be leading people from the Bison/ 5th and Dillon parking lot in Pocatello. It takes a little under 2 hours to drive from Pocatello to Craters.
Grant will be at the Craters’ Visitor Center at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 9, to meet people who want to go on an easy plant walk. He would like folks to call him at 208-237-5317 prior to June 6th to confirm that they will be attending this walk. The cell phone that he can be reached at on the 9th is 435-770-4487.
We will see buckwheats, bitterroots, monkey flowers, and other dry area plants.
Alternative Field Trips at Craters
Craters has ranger-led walks on June 2nd and 9th from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The rangers will lead people on the two mile Broken Top Trail that has uphill and downhill areas. This diverse trail has lava flow, sagebrush steppe, and forest. Each walk is limited to 25 people; there are zero people signed up for the 2nd and seven for the 9th.
