NATIVE PLANT SOCIETY TRIP TO BIG SPRINGS CAMPGROUND BY LAVA,

The Sawabi Chapter of the Idaho Native Plant Society invites you and your friends on a Saturday guided plant walk at Big Springs Campground near Lava Hot Springs.
To Carpool and Caravan: Meet at 9:00 am (TIME CHANGE) at the Bison Sculpture by the Idaho Museum of Natural History Building on the lower campus of Idaho State University. The Bison Sculpture is next to the big parking lot at 5th and Dillon.
Or… Meet about 10:15 am at the Site: The Site is the parking area in front of the entrance to the Campground. (The drive from Pocatello to the Site is about one hour+.)
Mel Nicholls will lead the group along the gradually uphill Big Springs Nature Trail that is shaded by a canopy of trees. The Nature Trail ends at the beautiful natural spring area.
After the walk, all are invited to a no-host lunch at the Thai Restaurant in Lava Hot Springs.

Driving Directions: From Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, go north on Old Highway 30 (paved highway) about 9 miles to Pebble Creek Road (also known locally as MIKE’S PLACE or WHISKY MIKES). Turn left (west) across the railroad tracks on Forest Road #036 (graveled). Stay on this road and drive about 7 miles to Big Springs Campground.
