It is that time of year again! The INPS White Pine Chapter Native Plant Sale is a little over 2 months away. The sale this year will be on Saturday, May 21, 9:00am – 12:00pm at the 1912 Center Arts Room.
NEW THIS YEAR: There will be a “members only” sale on Friday, May 20 from 5:00 to 6:00pm. You must be a current member to shop during this time (which means you have paid dues this year or you will pay at the door).
We need your help for this sale to be successful. Please consider donating plants, volunteering with sale set up or the day of the sale, and by shopping at the sale.
1) Donating plants: Now is the time to start looking for volunteer plants in your yard. Please dig up seedlings or vegetatively propagate native plants on your property and place them in pots. It is best if you can pot up these plants as soon as possible, so they will have time to grow new roots and establish themselves. Pots should be free of grass and weeds, and labeled with common or scientific name. If you need assistance with identifying species or determining the proper propagation technique, please email us. Donated plants from volunteers are very important for the success of the sale. Contact me, the 2016 Plant Sale Coordinator, at plspavek@gmail.com, when you have an idea of the species and numbers of plants you are able to donate.
2) Volunteering to help before and during the sale. Volunteers are needed prior to the sale for making plant labels, distributing posters, set-up, organizing supplies and running the sale. Please tell me (plspavek@gmail.com) if you would like to be added to the volunteer contact list and the tasks you are interested in.
3) Shopping at the sale. You get beautiful plants for your yard, and the proceeds support educational programs and projects that benefit our mission.
