Officers

Here is a schedule of tentative outings and meetings for 2022. These plans may be subject to change.

Q’emlin Park Plant Walk (April 9):  Meet at the trailhead at the west end of the parking area at 9:30.  Our plant target will be the beautiful early spring flowers.

Antoine Peak Survey #1 (April 16):  Meet at the Trentwood Trailhead at 17711 E Wellesley Ave in the Spokane valley at 9:30.  We will continue our work of listing and photographing the plants of the Antoine Peak Conservation Area.

Chapter Meeting (May 4):  Meet in the Wildlife Building of the North Idaho Fairgrounds, 4056 N Government Way, at 7:00 pm.  This is our first try at having a face to face meeting so vaccines and masks are recommended.  I don’t have a topic yet, so unless someone has a good idea I will blow the dust off an old presentation.  Any requests?

Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge Plant Walk (May 7):  This will be a joint activity with the Northeast Chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society. We will meet outside the refuge headquarters building at 26010 South Smith Road, Cheney, Washington, at 10:00 am.

Antoine Peak Survey #2 (May 21):  Meet at the Trentwood Trailhead at 17711 E Wellesley Ave in the Spokane valley at 9:30.

Plant Walk (June 11):  Location still to be determined.  Please forward me your ideas on where to go.  It is possible that we will have another joint activity with the Northeast Chapter of WNPS at Dishman Hills.  Stand by.

INPS Annual Meeting (June 23 to 27):  This is the statewide annual gathering.  This year the meeting is being held at the Wilderness Gateway Campground along the Lochsa River.  Registration is required.  See the INPS website (idahonativeplants.org) for details.

Idaho Botany Foray (July 7 to 11):  This is the annual plant collecting expedition.  The collected specimens will be added to herbaria within Idaho.  This year’s foray is sponsored by the College of Idaho.  The foray will be held in the Yellow Pine area east of McCall.  There will be a lot of plant geeks at the gathering, but everyone is welcome.  Contact me for details.

Antoine Peak Survey #3 (July 16):  Meet at the Trentwood Trailhead at 17711 E Wellesley Ave in the Spokane valley at 9:30.

Moose Lake Plant Walk (July 23):  We had to cancel last year’s trip to Moose Lake because of forest fires.  We hope to do better this year.  Meet in the northeast corner of the Hayden Walmart parking lot to carpool/caravan at 8:00 am

Mountain Plant Hike (August 13):  Location of hike has not been determined yet.  Forward your thoughts to me.

Chapter Meeting (October 5):  Meet in the Wildlife Building of the North Idaho Fairgrounds, 4056 N Government Way, at 7:00 pm.  I again don’t have a topic yet: send me your ideas.
