Program: A Vascular Flora of the Selkirk Mountains, Bonner and Boundary Counties, Idaho
The Selkirk Mountains in northern Idaho host a diverse botanical flora unlike anywhere else in the state. In this region, boreal, coastal, Rocky Mountain, and Columbia Basin floristic influences combine with a rich geologic history, creating an ideal study region. Additionally, with recreation, development, natural resource extraction, and changing climate, it was timely to inventory the flora of the Selkirks . Between 2019 2020, 108 days were spent in the field, collecting thousands of plant specimens, including 54 rare taxa and 6 state collection records. These collections along with verified historical collections culminated in a voucher based checklist of the vascular plants of the region. With a grant from the White Pine Chapter of the Idaho Native Plant Society, original drawings by three botanical artists illustrate the checklist.
