Explore the wonderful winter world of Craters of the Moon National Monument on this fun snowshoe excursion (approximately 2 hours/ 2 miles). Along the way learn about winter survival strategies and discover the surprising diversity of flora and fauna that inhabits this lava landscape.
Meet at the visitor center parking lot at 11 a.m. or meet to carpool at the Hailey Park & Ride @ 9:30 a.m. or the Picabo Store @ 10:15 a.m. Bring snowshoes*, poles (optional), warm boots, layered clothes/winter gear, insulated pad for sitting, sack lunch and fluids and a day pack.
*Snowshoes are also available for borrowing from the Craters of the Moon Natural History Association (donations accepted) at the visitor center on the day of the event.
